designed to take Nigeria into the innovative
and exciting realm of mobile television.

new tool has put Nigeria and at least three
other African countries on the international
map with its novel implementation of Digital
Video Broadcast Handheld (DVB-H) mobile

Nigeria is long overdue. The product, which

hands and enhances Nigerians'
opportunities to get into the world of
mobile entertainment." He pointed out that
football lovers can watch the 2010 FIFA
World Cup live matches by using an MTN SIM
to connect to the network.
"The lack of adequate number of mobile
television handsets was a major draw-back
prior to this time, however we are proud to
announce that we have at least 100,000
mobile television enabled handsets in the
market with plans to increase the number in
the nearest future. Subscribers will be able
to view the Mobile TV channels in the
metropolitan areas of Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan,
Port Harcourt, Asaba, Aba, Enugu, Onitsha,
Benin City and Kaduna. Subscription for DStv
Mobile remains free until April 2011," said
Mr Okunola.

is an evidence of Nigeria's rising profile as
one of the fastest growing markets for
technologically-advanced services and
applications. "The DStv Mobile demonstrates
the convergence of broadcasting and
telecommunication and operates on Digital
Video Broadcast-Handheld, DVB-H, a mobile
broadcast technology that allows for the
digital terrestrial broadcast of live television
and audio channels to a cellphone. DVB-H is
a type of broadcast technology that enables
you to watch crystal clear live TV with
outstanding sound quality. For our
customers, this means entertainment,
information and value added service on-
the-go, anywhere and anytime."
Phillip De La Vega, General Manager, Nokia,
said: "The DStv Mobile offers a great
opportunity for collaboration among three
organisations to bring convenience to the
customer. Nokia believes in connecting
people, and has found out that football and
other forms of entertainment programmes,
give Nigerians a lot of excitement. So, it is a
thing of joy for Nokia to, through DStv
Mobile, bring Nigerians interesting premium
content and many hours of viewing
pleasure on the go." He added that Nokia
has developed a new Nokia 5330 mobile
phone specifically for DStv MOBILE.
Kola Oyeyemi, General Manager, Consumer
Marketing, MTN Nigeria, said: "MTN's
partnership with DStv and Nokia is driven
by passion to satisfy the consumers.
Mobility has changed the way we live and
MTN is proud to be the first network to
launch the DStv Mobile because it is a
product that will enrich the lives of the
consumer." He called on Nigerians to join
Nokia, DStv and MTN in turning people's
lives around.
