Jeta Amata unites Hollywood with Nollywood

Jeta Amata

It took a whole year to produce, had two countries on different continents as setting , had local and international actors in it and shot on celluloid. The entire crew are from Los Angeles. I’m sure you will agree with me that Inale and Black Gold are two films that have raised Nigerian film standard. Jeta Amata has just finished post- production efforts on the two movies.

Inale is a romantic musical on Idomaland of Benues state. The film reflects the music of Bongos Ikwue, who is Executive Producer of the film. It features US stars , Hakeem Kae Kazim of Hotel Rwanda, and Caroline Chikezie of Eragon Mistress with Spices.

Black Gold, is a true story on the struggle in the Niger Delta. It features international stars like Billy Zane of Titanic, Sarah Wayne Callies of Prison Break, Hakeem Kae Kazim as well Mbong Amata of Amazing Grace. Nigerian stars involved are Dede Mabiaku, Fred Amata, Barbara Soky and more.

Jeta just returned from Hollywood where the editing of the films was done. These films are the first of Nollywood’s patnership with Hollywood . Arrangements are already on course to do Jeta Amata’s next film, Road to Redemption which features Billy Ray Cyrus of Hannah Montana.

Inale was funded by Bongus Igwe with partners from the US and some support from Benue and Nassarawa state governments while Black Gold was funded by Weels Entertainment, Canada , Rock City Entertainment, Hollywood and Jeta Amata concepts Nigeria . This is another movie set for local and international awards.

Psquare returns from America

P-Square
Shortly after they conquered Africa by winning the KORA Best African acts award, Nigerian music exports P Square have continued to prove that they can hold their own anywhere in the world.

The duo just rounded off their musical tours in United States and Canada where they performed in seven cities including Houston, LA, Minnesota, Oakland, Maryland, Toronto and New York and recorded massive success in the two countries.

The one and half month tour, which ended in New York City on 24th July has been described as the most successful so far by an African artiste based in the United States and by other artistes. It was gathered that the Maryland show was almost cancelled owing to the fact that the venue was filled to capacity.

In a statement released by the duo, Paul explained that, he and his twin brother are yet to find the right words to describe the success of the tour, which has prompted American star singer, Drake, to approach them for a collabo .
Peter, the other half also expressed surprise at the success of the tour saying “I don’t actually know how to explain how successful the tour was, because aside the fact that all the shows were sold-out, the passion of the fans, particularly the white ones, was incredible. I never knew Americans love us that much. Surprisingly, they knew the lyrics of our songs and were singing along.”

P Square is expected to continue the tour next year. Their performance train will then move to other American cities like Ohio , Chicago and Atlanta among others, where their fans are eagerly waiting to see them perform.
Meanwhile, the multiple award-winning singers have finally moved into their N300million mansion in Lola Holloway Street , Omole Estate Phase 1.

As part of the plans to move into the mansion in style, automobiles outfit, Coscharis, has delivered four brand new wonder-on-wheels to P Square’s garage. The new automobiles, two Range rovers Sports, one X6 BMW and a Jaguar, all 2010 models, costs P Square a whopping N65m.

My marriage is intact-Ini Ed

Ini Edo
Photo: Sun News Publishing
After her wedding to Philip Ehigwina, Ini Edo’s marriage has been the subject of one rumour or the other. Even the actress is at a loss for words as to what might have made her the subject of rumours.

The rumour mill alleged that she lost a pregnancy during a fight with an in-law. To counter the allegations, her spin doctors also leaked a report of a car gift from her US-based husband to assure her fans that the actress is still very married.

But that didn’t stop the rumourmongers as the actress was splashed on the cover of a magazine with a screaming headline that read “Ini Edo’s marriage in fresh trouble”. The reports said Ini and her husband had parted ways as the man no longer spends on her and that Ini was tired of investing in the man’s business without any appreciable returns.

While speaking to Showbiz Now, Ini said her marriage is intact and her husband is still very much her man. She even offered to call the man and have us talk to him. “I don’t know what they are talking about.

My marriage is intact. I just came back from the states where I went to spend time with my husband. I think some of these people just write whatever they like about people. I don’t take them serious anymore”she said.

Friday, August 6, 2010

Multi talented superstar, Innocent Ujar Idibia, a.k.a 2face Idibia is reportedly building a hotel in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Sources have it that it is one of the biggest projects he is working on at the moment.

According to a close associate of Idibia who does not want his name mentioned, the hotel in question is currently gulping millions of naira. He said further that the whole idea of owning a hotel started when 2face held his 10th anniversary celebration in Abuja. He got a land gift from one of his numerous admirers and after making consultations with close friends, he decided to erect a hotel on the parcel of land. Our source couldn’t reveal further the state of the hotel now because he has not been there in a while.
One may have no cause to doubt this privileged information because Idibia himself loves properties to a fault. Aside the properties he has invested in including one he is currently staying in Festac Town, Lagos, it was alleged at a point that he got a house gift in Abuja from former Presidential aspirant, Rochas Okorocha.
Rhythms & Sounds put a word to 2face’s managers but they denied knowledge of the hotel. 2Face himself is yet to return to the country after his performance with Mario in London on July 30, 2010.

Taylor Momsen say she is not a whore for using vibrator

Taylor Momsen Says She's Not a Whore For Using a Vibrator
Taylor Momsen is trying to be known for her "I don't give a shit" mentality, but being that she's only 17-years old makes things a bit awkward.

She previously mentioned that she uses a vibrator and many were shocked that the teen would admit something like that in public, but she doesn't think there is anything wrong with that.

"I'm not a whore for masturbating, so f*** you if you want to call me one," Momsen says. "I think women should equally be allowed to pleasure themselves as much as men. I think that if that has any more controversy than a man talking about pleasuring himself, then there's something wrong with the world."

That's all great and we completely agree, but we don't wanna hear it from a 17-year old!

It doesn't end there! She also managed to slam the Catholic church during a New Zealand radio...

Jessica Simpson: Everything Bad Has Already Been Said About Me
Jessica Simpson has had a pretty few rough years. First, it was the men she would attract, then it was the battle with her weight. At this point, everything and anything that can be said about her has been said.

The good news is the bad phase in her life is over and she is in a great place right now.

"I'm very happy. Right now in my life, I'm the most confident I've ever been. I can make that statement," she told People Magazine.

"I really believe that somebody should just sit in front of their best friend in the world and have their friend ask any and every question – offensive or not. And whatever it is, answer it," she advises. "That's your therapy. Really tackling those issues inside and out."

Jessica says that negative things that people say about her obviously do hurt her. "Of...

Pasuma joins Twitter Train

Now who says only Hip Hop singers and
International celebrities are on Twitter? Naija’s Fuji ambassador, the only one who has successfully crossed from the Fuji circles to mingle with Urban contemporary singers, Alhaji Pasuma Alabi joined the Twitter train on July 23rd. His followers have increased day after day.
In just about 15 days, the Fuji singer has amassed a following of 328 people. Many younger artistes and artiste managers are following and Paso has been communicating real well. His twitter handle is PasumaWonder and as at Thursday, he had 345 tweets.
The twitter bug is biting real hard and almost every Nigerian celebrity you can think of visits the medium everyday, relating with fans and relaying how their days are going. Its instant messaging and communal facility are features twitaholics are maximising by the day though this doesn’t mean there aren’t ghost users and impersonators.
Tweets from celebs like Lady Gaga, Ashton Kutcher, Kim Kardashian are using their fame to amass more fortune as their personal endorsement of brands are becoming lucrative advertisement vehicles as all their brand tweets are sponsored.
Who else is on Twitter? Our own President Goodluck Jonathan posted his first tweet on the social networking site on Monday, 1st of August 2010. You want to know what he said, maybe you should find PresJonathan on the site.
Essence and her love for pork
Our dear Facebook lover, Essence, was spotted at an event together with KSB in Lagos on Tuesday. While KSB looked much prettier, smarter and younger in her white shirt tucked into grey pants, the same can’t be said of Essence with her weave-on plaited into two girlish locks.
The singer looked like she needs an overall make-over including wardrobe and fitness.
Essence
Speaking of fitness, we seem to have identified Essence’s fattening secret: Pork!. During lunch, everyone helped themselves to mouth-watering helpings from the buffet tables. While Essence dished her rice and salad, and walked by the meat table, she recognised the pork stand shortly before KSB shouted out to her saying, ‘Essence, there’s pork over here’.
Since the two ladies are well known to each other, it won’t be far from the truth to note that Essence is a pork lover. While most female celebrities are slaving it out to stay in shape and will shun nearly everything fattening to fit into those red carpet dresses, Essence is fatting up on pork. A word of advice for her: Girlfriend, you may not be A-list yet but on your way there, we suggest you tone down the figure and indulgence. Maybe you should hook up with Jennifer Hudson and let her mentor you a bit.
Kefee’s ex, Alec, shows off new girl
Well, depending on which side of the divide you belong, this may be good or bad news. If you are one of those hoping for a reconciliation between singer Kefee and estranged husband cum manager, Alec Godwin, sorry I have some bad news.
But if you believed the singer’s break-up tale and wished with all your heart that your loving Kefee never be abused again, then this is the green light. Alec Godwin is moving on and yes, he’s showing her off to those who have the eyes to tell.
We don’t know the name of the lucky lady, however the young one accompanied the label boss, Alec to a client’s album unveil in Lagos last Tuesday. It was at Protea Hotel, Ikeja where the many celebs gathered let down their hair over lunch.
Sunny Nneji asked jokingly if his date was another fan but surprisingly Alec responded that she wasn’t a fan but serious business. Well, we pray you the very best Alec. One thing however couldn’t escape our notice: Alec’s ringing tone. While the function was on formally, before the lunch; a phone rang out Kefee’s award-winning number,
Kokoroko. A few heads turned trying to find out the source of the interruption. Lo and behold, it was Alec’s phone

T.W.O blows take fans breath away

Recall that a year ago, the media went agog with reports that respected showbiz duo Tunde and Wunmi Obe was making an exit from music to focus on Television!
Also recall that the pair was quick to debunk the rumors; returning swiftly with a new single titled Zombie in August, 2009. The single was the beginning of a series of fresh materials to come. Three months after the release of Zombie, the fan-favourite satire ‘Fine Bara’ hit the airwaves.
Now exactly a year after the release of their first single, the duo has announced their plans to release their fifth studio album “T.W.O Legit. ‘

With production contributions from ID Cabasa Sean Keyz, Puffy T, Foster Zeeno and Rhymzo, T.W.O legit brings a lot to the table, cutting across dance tracks all the way to family friendly songs, with a lot of messages to take away
“It is nothing like you have seen before, it is the best album we have ever done, and we hope the fans will connect with the music and the message.
As Nigeria’s foremost showbiz couple, T.W.O brings an exciting uniqueness that cannot be duplicated to the stage, local booths, video sets and TV screens. They started out as lead singers in the wildly
popular campus band, Turning Point in the late 80’s and have developed their other talents and greatly improved their stage performance through hard work, consistency and flexibility. Only T.W.O can play like they do
“We played with a lot of concepts and styles when we were recording this album, and we are positive that a lot of people will find the album amusing, entertaining, inspiring and refreshing” Wunmi Obe says

Ebube Nwagbo goes into hair business

While many of her  contemporaries have taken to music as an alternative to acting, sultry actress, Ebube Nwagbo has pitched her tent with world of beauty. She now brands a hundred percent human hair known as Posh Hair.
Posh Hair is manufactured in America and labeled for Ebube Nwagbo as the franchisee in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
The hair cream is said to be certified by those who have used it. Already it has become a toast of every highflying lady out there who wants to look posh without going bankrupt.
Our source said, the new product which was launched into the beauty market in Nigeria recently has the face of the beautiful actress inscribed on the cream.
Ebube Nwagboe
The Enugu born actress whose acting prowess in Royal Palace movie shot her into prominence in 2005, is said to be working round the clock to ensure  that she gives the product an edge over other competitors in the  beauty industry.
“Everybody wears weave-on but it depends on what you want to wear. When I came about Posh Hair, the first thing that came to mind was the issue of price, if one has to break the monopolistic power of some players in the industry, price is one issue that must be seriously tackle first.
And I also noticed that a lot of ladies out there wanted to look like Beyonce, Anita Baker… by wearing their hair, and I was like, we can actually have something to do with our own movie or music stars and since then the idea had been so disturbing me until it eventually became a reality.” Ebube said.

Lerato or Munya:Who goes home

Big Brother presenter IK
Viewers may be in for more surprises tomorrow night as another eviction looms big. Last week, Big Brother shocked not a few when he sent evicted Sammi and Hannington right into The Barn rather than their different countries. So, who knows the surprise packet awaiting the evicted housemate on Sunday? Home or The Barn?

This week’s nominations had thrown Munya and Lerato up for eviction, after Head of House, Tatiana once more saved herself and put Lerato in her place. Uti, Lerato, Meryl, Sheila and even Barnmate Hannington had nominated both Munya and Tatiana – for almost exactly the same reasons. Tatiana was first to go into the Diary Room, nominating Lerato and Sheila because of their alliance, adding that they were only trying to get close to her because she is Head of House.

In contrast, Uti struggled to come up with a name, but finally settled on Munya, saying that he found it difficult to trust him.  He then nominated Tatiana because she would be able to save herself. He also pointed out that both Tatiana and Munya had gone just about all the way to the end of the game in their respective seasons, so it was time to “give other housemates a chance at the prize”.

Lefato nominated Tatiana, without knowing that the Angolan had nominated her. Her reason was the consensus – Tatiana would use her power to save herself. She then nominated Munya because she felt that he was acting too suave.  Meryl nominated Munya because she felt he has a strategy – and that strategy is working and also because he is a strong player. Her reason for nominating Tatiana was that she was good friends with Munya and it would be interesting to pit the two against each other – especially with Tatiana as Head of House. Sheila nominated Tatiana for the same reason as Lerato, and Munya because she felt he was playing the ladies against each other. Hannington nominated Tatiana, for replacing herself with him and unwittingly getting him sent to The Barn even though he told her during his ‘dagger throw’ (thrown at Sheila) that he had no bad feelings. He picked up on his fellow housemates’ vibe and nominated Munya because he felt he was playing the housemates off against each other.

Paloma and Kaone both nominated Meryl, while Paloma’s second nomination went to Munya and Kaone’s to Tatiana. Paloma picked Munya because she felt he was a strong contender and she wished to eliminate some competition. Tatiana was Kaone’s choice because she could save herself. Kaone explained that he and Paloma were using Tatiana as bait in their plan to nullify the alliance between Lerato, Meryl, Uti and Sheila. He said that he had nominated Meryl because they had got off on the wrong foot after their altercation last week which saw Meryl calling him “ungrateful” in an argument over the frying pan.

Mwisho entered the Diary Room after bizarrely pausing and asking his housemates if any of them would volunteer to be nominated – unsurprisingly, nobody obliged! Settling down for his nomination session, he picked Sheila and Uti, saying that he wanted to break their ‘partnership’. Code nominated Meryl because he couldn’t decide whether she is a friend or foe. Lerato was his second nomination, since he felt she is the leader of the female pack. Jennifer was quick to nominate Munya and Sheila. Though she claimed it was nothing personal, she did admit she felt Sheila will nominate her at some point. Yacob followed the general trend and reasoning for nominating Tatiana, before nominating Meryl, whom he said was loud and nagging as she kept asking him to do things for her, which he found irritating. Munya’s nominations were based on the same bizarre reason as last week – he nominated Uti and Yacob because their countries are furthest from his homeland. Barnmate Sammi nominated Munya because he felt that he was hiding behind everyone, and Sheila because he felt someone must foil her conspiracies.

Now that Lerato and Munya are up for elimination. Who leaves the Big Brother house tomorrow? One thing is certain though, the Housemate who receives the least number of votes will be evicted. You can still vote to keep a nominated housemate in the game.

I love girls with Big Buttock-Oritse Femi

Femi
Photo: Sun News Publishing
Oritse Femi is a budding musician who is popular for his hit track, Mercy of God. Born into a polygamous family, the Delta State indigene tasted the bitter side of life while living in the ghetto of Ajegunle in Lagos and had to struggle to carve a niche for himself. In this interview with Blockbuster, the Unfadeables exponent narrates the story of his life and music. Excerpts:
Background
My name is Oritse Femi. I am from Delta State. I was born and brought up in Ajegunle, Lagos. I started my music right from my primary school days. I got my inspiration from the street because I had the opportunity to hang out with the underprivileged in the society. I am very happy today because I have been able to pick one or two things from them to compose my songs. It was not only tough but also rough. It was not really easy because of my background.

I come from a polygamous family and with so many children. My father being an engineer wanted me to follow his footsteps. My mother being a church worker also wanted me to be in the house of God. All these were a diversion for me. I never thought I would ever climb to where I am today. But I thank God that I have been able to get a good packaging from my record label, Shining Entertainment, which was a different level from the way I was before. In the past I had a lot of good music but there was nobody to project me. Now, I have got a lot of opportunities to show to the world the creativity that I possess.

I have got a lot of fans and everybody wants to hear about Oritse Femi and his music, which was not the case in those days. So, it is really a great opportunity for me to showcase my talents to the world.
How it all started
It all started when I was still in school when we used to have music clubs. Those days when we used to have get-together party, I was always performing. When they saw the talents in me, people advised me to keep practising because constant practice makes perfect. That was how I became enthusiastic about music. But professionally, I got my experience from the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ajegunle, Lagos. I started as lead vocalist in the choir where I was also playing bass guitar. It was there I actually picked a lot of musical ideas. The greatest opportunity I had musically was when Shaba Ranks, Keppy Ton and others came to establish a Ragga Dub School in Ajegunle. They were brought here by the late Johnny Nap.

That was where Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh, Father U-turn, Baba Fryo and a lot of other stars had their breakthrough. My associations with them made me know much about reggae, which became the genre I was playing in my early career. But later, with my reggae experience, and the experience I had in school and church, I started projecting my own kind of African music called, Reality or Conscience music. It is a kind of music that touches or arouses the feeling of the people. Some people call it hip-life because it has all the elements of different brands of music including our popular highlife. So, whether I am singing about ladies, money and other issues in the society, it always arouses the consciousness of reality.
The Unfadeables
When I was in a group called, The Jingolist, we released two albums. It was a joint project with my colleague, Chibudo. The first album was entitled, Boys Dibinu, that is “boys are not happy”. The second album was Money Na Time and they had eight tracks each. Later I went solo and released an album, Elewon, which means “chase them”. That was when I started singing about the flopped politicians and the need to chase them away. It was released in 2007/08 during the elections and turned out to be a hit. My second solo album has just been dropped into the market entitled, Unfadeables. I was motivated to release this album because of the wickedness prevalent in the world. One of the hit tracks that is making waves on radio and TV is Mercy of the Lord. It has a remix featuring the late Da Grin, Rhymzo and also my record label chairman, Shining. We have already shot the video and it would be out any moment from now.

The Unfadeables has fourteen tracks. It is going to redefine the Oritse Femi people have been hearing about. Apart from the artistes I mentioned before, I’ve also featured in my works 2face, Pasuma Wonder, Nico Gravity, B Kleen and some other popular artistes in Nigeria. It is a thank you album to my fans who have been urging me on. The fans have been there saying that Oritse Femi cannot fade. That is why I entitled the album, Unfadeables. It is a street lingo narrating how people neglected me when I was not known.
Life as a celeb
As a celebrity, those places I used to go to before, I can’t go there anymore because of attention. Everywhere I go people always want to associate with me. They always have one or two things to say to me. The advantage is that anytime I go to the market or stores to buy something, I am always given discount because of my personality. The same thing applies when I lodge in a hotel. So, my life as a musician has been very interesting and I see it as God’s favour.
On the music industry
I think the industry is growing very well. The era whereby artistes were regarded as never-do-well or drop-outs has elapsed. They are no longer regarded as hunger-stricken or wayward people. The hardship of the past has been substituted with a life of affluence and glamour. Our artistes are now winning awards worth millions of dollars. These are indications that the industry is on the move. That is not to say that there is no other side of the coin, especially marketing of the album. It is sad that musicians cannot monitor the sales of their albums. Royalty is another issue. The succour now is live shows which many artistes are living on. Thanks to the enthusiastic fans that prefer our music to that of our foreign counterparts. I know that by the time the majority of our artistes start reaping from endorsements and all that, the sky would be the limit.
Coping with female admirers
Honestly, I love my female fans a lot because they are the ones who patronize us most. If women love your music, be assured that their boyfriends would buy it to soothe them. That is why I am always very careful not to have problem with women, especially when it comes to sex scandal. I thank God that I am into a very strong relationship, which I hope by the grace of God would lead to marriage. So, the relationship I have with my female fans is just a platonic one. But then I love a slim, clean, sweet lady. My woman must have a bit of buttocks. I love girls that have buttocks. That is not to say I don’t like fat ladies but my kind of girl is the one that is slim with big buttock.
Role models
My role model is Sizzler Konaji. But as for my kind of music, I love Fela Anikulakpo- Kuti’s music. And for my stage performance, I got the idea from Daddy Showkey. I believe one can hardly beat him when it comes to stagecraft.

Sean Penn Slams Wyclef Jean
Sean Penn isn't exactly thrilled about Wyclef Jean's Presidential announcement.

Wyclef announced this week that he's going to run for President of Haiti, but Sean isn't impressed with the news. He's convinced that Wyclef has misused money donated to his Yele Haiti foundation and it's going to come back to haunt him.

Penn says "He has been virtually silent for those of us in Haiti, he has been a non-presence. His voice has really been most loudly that which allegedly (sic) has taken over 400,000 dollars designated for Haitian relief for himself and claims he didn't do it. That has to be looked into.

"I've been there. I know what 400,000 dollars could do for these people's lives and for a 24-year-old girl right now who is dying. So, I want to see someone who is really, really willing to sacrifice for their country and not just..

Trey Songz is quickly becoming a household name. But he wasn’t always a big player in the music game. In the new Billboard, the R&B artist talks about his new album Passion, Pain & Pleasure that’s filled with sex, sex and more sex.

"The public likes generic more than they like to admit, so that's what I gave them -- I gave them sexual singles and they ate it up,” he tells Billboard. “I gave them two whole albums before this one -- on one I talked about a mother's love for her son and a father not being there, and on the other I made a song about safe sex. They were well accepted but not as much as the records on [his last album] Ready. The singles were purposely very sexual to capture people's attention."

Angelina Jolie Defends Shiloh's Boyish Obsession
If you haven’t already noticed, Angelina Jolie’s 4-year old daughter Shiloh really wants to be a boy.

She cut her hair short, and now strictly dresses in a masculine style. It was sort of quirky and cute at first, but has it gone too far?

Most recently, Shiloh was photographed wearing a boys’ pair of swimming trunks while playing in the pool with her siblings. If we didn’t know better, we’d think she was a little boy.

Check out the pic on Us Magazine.

Angie is defending her little girl’s choice to dress boyish, telling Grazia magazine, "It's not my choice. I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl, who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is. I think people think kids should be a certain way, but I feel they should wear what they feel like wearing.
