Lagbaja,Hugh Masekela to thrill audience at world cup village

As the 2010 World Cup draws closer,
franchise owners - Infinity Events, South
Africa and Heartlink Events, Nigeria - are
putting finishing touches to the Sports and
Entertainment Village that is being set up for
that purpose.
According to the, Head Consultant, Heartlink
Events, Kemi Otegbade, Hugh Masekela, Femi
Kuti, Lagbaja and Kunle Ayo are some of the
artistes expected to perform at the village.
She said, "The Nigeria Sports and
Entertainment village is a new way of
rebranding Nigerian. It is part of the efforts
aimed at promoting Nigeria, protecting her
image and changing the strong negative
perception about the country."
She added, "The concerts will not revolve
around jazz music, but all genres. And
already, some local acts, who are going to
perform at the village have been contacted,
as some of them are part of the country's
brand ambassadors."
Otegbade added that villages would be
created in the three venues that Nigeria is
playing to give visitors from the country
opportunity to have homely feeling even
while away from home. "Already, some
Nigerians in South Africa are being
partnered to prepare Nigerian dishes for
those who will come for the concerts and
those, who might not get into the stadiums
to see some of the matches," she added.
