KIDNEY PROBLEM:fashola to the rescue

Lanre Shakomended
He has prayed and is still praying. That his
wife will make it through this traumatic
phase. And now the solution seems nearer.
After two months of writing the Lagos State
government on the plight of his wife,
Premier Music A & R manager, Lanre Fakeye
a. k. a Shakomended has been referred to St
Nicholas Hospital Lagos to receive treatment
for his wife on the bill of the state. The
covering letter states that Tomilayo, his 27-
year-old wife, should be tested all over again.
“We spoke with the specialist, Dr Bamboye, at
St Nicholas last week and he has performed
all the necessary tests again so as to have
proper assessment of the situation at hand.
His report confirms that she needs an urgent
kidney transplant.
The medical report has been sent back to the
Government House, Alausa, for reaction
before the hospital can undertake the
surgery ” Lanre said.
People well familiar with government modus
operandi say that it could take another four
to six months before a go-ahead covering
cheque be sent to the hospital in favour of
Mrs Tomilayo Fakeye ’s surgery.
Not unaware of government bureaucracy
Lanre says, “I’m really praying that the whole
process will be fast tracked and that we
won ’t be caught up in the whole … My wife
needs urgent attention”. Apart from the cost
for the surgery which Governor Fashola will
foot, hopefully, Lanre still neds to make
about N2m available for medication after
surgery.
“I wish I could find a loan somewhere. She is
being managed by LUTH (Lagos University
Teaching Hospital) and so we visit there
every week ”.
Though thankful that his wife is not
bedridden, Lanre still has to take care of the
only fruit the union who will turn three later
in October. ‘I need to pick her (his daughter)
from school everyday. My little sister that
used to help out recently got married so I
have to do everything all by myself ”, he
resigned.
