Ejike,Hanks bags top govt job

Hank Anuku and Mr. Ejike Asiegbu
Call it a season of political appointments for
artistes and you may not be wrong.
Nollywood actors are beginning to take the
front seats in the scheme of things as they
join forces with the powers-that-be to steer
the ship of state.
Last week, embattled former national
president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria
(AGN), Mr. Ejike Asiegbu, was appointed a
Special Assistant on Entertainment to
Governor Theodor Orji of Abia State.
Asiegbu’s appointment came barely a month
after hunk actor, Hank Anuku was also
appointed a special adviser to the Delta State
Governor, Uduaghan, on Tourism and
Entertainment.
HVP gathered that the baritone voice actor’s
appointment took him by surprise.
Asiegbu, according a source, was sighted at
the celebrity hangout, O ’jez, in Surulere, last
weekend, where he was celebrating and
clinking glasses with his friends and well-
wishes over his new appointment.
Asiegbu is believed to have paid his dues in
the Nigerian entertainment industry. With a
thriving career spanning over two decades,
the University of Port-Harcourt, Theatre Arts
graduate has traversed television and stage
productions before berthing in Nollywood ’s
big screens as an actor.
Equally, Hank, HVP learnt was appointed
special adviser to Governor Uduaghan on
Tourism and Entertainment last month,
succeeding actor Richard Mofe Damijo who
was made the state ’s Commissioner for
Tourism. Notwithstanding his long absence
from the movie scene, this is a new dawn
for the actor.
By his new position, Hank’s lifestyle is sure
to receive a boost as he abandons his
hobby of riding power bike for his new
political appointment in addition to losing his
casual and gangster dress sense for a suit, T
Shirt and trousers with a pair of shoes to
match.
Asiegbu and Hank have come of age, joining
the likes of RMD, Okey Bakassi, Onyeka
Onwenu, Bongos Ikwe and many other
entertainers
