The estate of Whitney Houston is following in Michael Jackson’s footsteps.
Lifetime has picked up the docu-series “The Houston Family Chronicles” that will – you guessed it - follow the late singer’s family around. So much for resting in peace…
On slate to appear in the series are a bunch of people you never heard of, including Whitney’s sister-in-law/manager Pat Houston, Pat’s daughter Rayah, her brother Gary, but also her daughter Bobbi Kristina, and her mother Cissy Houston.
According to Lifetime Networks Executive Vice President Rob Sharenow, the show will follow those closest to Whitney as they try to pick up the pieces of the sudden and tragic loss.
“In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow,” said Sharenow.
Other than dealing with Whitney’s death, Pat and Gary will take on the challenge of raising Bobbi Kritina as she faces the world without her mother. Meanwhile they will help their own daughter transition into adulthood.
I’m not sure what’s more morbid, the plotline of this series or the new trend for companies to latch on and profit off famous family tragedies.
The series will consist of 10, hour-long episodes and be produced by Jarrett Creative.
“The Houston Family Chronicles” is scheduled to premiere sometime this year. No official premiere date has been released.
