Yet another season of “Dancing With The Stars” is coming to an end. Tonight, a new couple will be crowned the champs and it’s truly anyone’s game.
All three finalist couples brought it last night. Nearly perfect tens all around. Katherine Jenkins pulled slightly ahead, simply by being perfect.
Jenkins and her partner Mark Ballas wowed the judges with their paso doble. In the judges’ eyes, it was a display that brought her back to the beginning of the season when she was seen as a favorite. For that, they awarded her a 30/30.
She finished strong with a freestyle, where she mixed jive and the quickstep for another perfect score, earning her a 60/60 for the night. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba dubbed Jenkins’ performance the “dance of a champion.”
But William Levy and Donald Diver weren’t far behind. Both contestants earned a 59/60.
Levy and Cheryl Burke started off with a cha-cha that got both partners’ hips moving. Their first dance earned them a perfect score. When it came time for the freestyle round, Levy and Burke returned to their comfort place with the salsa and the tango, scoring a 29/30.
Diver and his partner Peta Murgatroyd got down with their tango too, a choice by Inaba. The couple put on a high-energy performance that excited judges, but fell a point away from perfection. They returned to wow them with a risky freestyle, doing an unexpected two-step to a country twag song. The trick worked, and earned them a perfect score.
"This is my favorite dance of the season!" Inaba said.
Inaba was so excited, in fact, that she stood on the judge’s table and started dancing along with them. Not a bad way to seal an exciting and unpredictable season.
One of the finalist couple will be given a mirror-ball trophy tonight. The final episode of season 14 airs at 9/8c.
