Hilary Duff and her husband Mike Comrie welcomed their son into the world two days ago. And they’re just now telling us about it? I guess they’ve been busy, so we’ll forgive them. This time.

“Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie!” Hilary Tweeted. “Tuesday evening, we became proud parents of a healthy 7 pound 6 ounce beautiful boy.”

The name Luca is apparently an Italian name and means “man from Lucania.” Lucania is a region in southern Italy that’s thought to have been named in ancient times with a word meaning, “bright” or “shining.”

History lesson aside, congratulations to the couple! And this is going to be the first of many celebrity birth announcements this year.

Jessica Simpson, you’re next.

Duff continued: “We are overjoyed and feel like the luckiest parents in the world. He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well."

It was August that Duff first announced she was expecting, saying that she and Mike were “ready to start this new chapter in our lives.” She describes pregnancy as “kind of like a little alien has taken over your body. You just don’t quite feel normal.”

But aside from feeling like her body was infiltrated by aliens, Hilary said pregnancy was “super easy.”

In November, Duff’s baby bump was visible, and she showed it off on the red carpet, saying that she actually prefers to wear tight clothes.

“Well, it's there, and everyone knows it's there,' so I think it looks better to wear tighter clothes,” Hilary said.
