Mavin Records star, Tiwa Savage and EME’s Wizkid made history on
Wednesday night as they were officially unveiled as ambassadors of one
of the leading soft drinks in Nigeria, Pepsi.
Wizkid recently won the Best International Act (Africa) in the prestigious BET awards held in Los Angeles, United States, just as Tiwa Savage was co-host of the reality TV show ‘Nigerian Idol’ Season Two which was sponsored by Pepsi.
The unveiling ceremony, which was held at the Likwid Lounge had celebrities and fans of the singers, in attendance. An excited Tiwa who arrived the event venue clad in hot pant, expressed gratitude at the decision of the brand to make her an ambassador, adding that she has no idea why she was chosen but will add ‘a proper Naija flavour’ to the brand.
Celebrities who were in attendance included Eku Edewor, Kaffy, Vector, Tillaman, Dr Sid, Flowsick, Olisa Adibua, DJ Xclusive, Durella, Dr. Sid and a host of others.
The duo, who have been rocking the entertainment scene both within and outside the shores of the country with their brand of music are the latest additions on the list of Nigerian musicians.
They have been chosen as ambassadors for the brand following Ashionye who was signed as face of Pepsi Lite in 2007, and Lynxxx who represented the brand in 2010.
Speaking at the event, Pepsi manager, Mazen Almasri said”Pepsi is delighted to bring brand these two very talented Nigerian musicians on board. They represent the Pepsi brand essence of inspiring a youthful lifestyle and refreshing the world of our consumers.”
According to Almasri, Pepsi is very passionate about developing talents that abound in Nigeria, whether in football, as the Pepsi Football Academy has been doing for the past 20 years or the newly introduced MBA Harvard Business Scholarship aimed at giving young Nigerians a world class education. Globally, Pepsi has for many years, used soccer and music stars for marketing campaigns.
For the Pepsi boss, the brand will support Tiwa Savage and Wizkid to take their music careers to the next level through promotion within and outside the shores of the country.
