Charley Boy searches for creative journalist

You may be forgiven if you do
not know that Nigerian showbiz
impressario, Charles Oputa,
better known as Charly Boy is a
trained mass communicator.
Because he has been in the
public space for so long doing
this-and-that, many think he is
in an enduring search for
publicity. After the publication
of the story of his life under the
controversial and provocative
title, 'My Private Part', Oputa is
set for another adventure into
publishing. As with many
projects he has done in the past,
he brings the spotlight to
himself; and then spins it round
to other targets in the society.
This time, he is out with a
magazine titled Charlyboy. The
112 page all gloss magazine, was
a sell out as soon as it hit the
news stand across the country.
The cover of the 1st edition
carried Charly Boy and Denrele
Edun with the title “two
generations with too many
similarities.” These two
personalities though
generations apart curiously
share similarities in their
mannerism and eccentricisms.
One of the attention grabbing
design of this publication is a
contest that it has instituted for
journalists. Charly Boy is simply
looking for 'a creative
journalist'. Knowing the man,
you can be sure that the
journalist Charly Boy may favour
may have a whacky bent.
Princess Gloria Iweka, the Chief
Operating Officer and co-
publisher of Charlyboy Magazine,
reeled out a string of price
monies for journalists who will
be emerge tops in the contest.
